Kid-Friendly Sites

Akhlah, The Jewish Children's Learning Network, contains a section entitled "Israel for Children." It includes information on Israeli cities, symbols, history, coins, politicians - all geared for children.
Nurit Reshef's interactive site for children includes sections on Israeli symbols, personalities (with synopses in English and/or Hebrew), timeline of Israeli history, cities in Israel, as well as puzzles and games.
The Jewish Agency site includes people, places, timeline, concepts and maps relating to one hundred years of Zionism. Solid information, easy to understand. 

 

General Information

The website of the Foreign Ministry includes a wealth of materials about Israel, from history, religion and culture to personalities, science and the economy . . . and much more.
The Jewish Virtual Library is an encyclopedic collection of information about Israel. Suitable for research projects for middle and high school grades.
Israel's Ministry of Tourism has developed a site that includes dozens of 360 degree photos of different sections of Israel. The user can scroll within each of the photos, and zoom in and out. Photos range from Banias to Eilat, with thirty photos just of Jerusalem.

 

Curriculum

The Jewish Education Center of Cleveland has posted a pdf file that offers approaches to teaching about Israel emotionally, intellectually and actively.

The concept behind the "My Israel Source" site was to create a website particularly for summer camps. The materials contained in the site, however, will be useful to a wide range of educators - both informal and formal. Included are primary sources, from the establishment of the State of Israel, to maps, peace accords and Palestinian documents. Ministry of Foreign Affairs site: Statehood to the present

The Jewish Agency site includes people, places, timeline, concepts and maps relating to one hundred years of Zionism. Suitable for elementary grades.

The central element of this beautifully designed site, which is also available in Hebrew at cityofdavid.org.il/hp.asp, is a timeline from the time of the Patriarchs until the modern era. There are concise descriptions of each time period. A virtual tour is included that depicts Jerusalem in different time periods, and there is a gallery of pictures with links to various locations in Jerusalem and descriptions.
