Creating Israel Curriculum

Torah she-ba'al peh teachers
Tzofiah Tours, the Midreshet Lindenbaum Educators Program, and Bonayich Educational Services are offering a summer seminar for teachers of Torah She-Baal Peh. July 21 - 24.
Mi-Beit Ha-Mikdash Le-Beit Ha-Midrash: The Transition from Mesorah to Mishnah” is a unique professional development program that utilizes “limud ba-shetach” as a means to enhance classroom instruction by demonstrating how a knowledge of the Land of Israel enhances our understanding of the text, and how our understanding of the text enhances our appreciation of the land.

Machon Herzog is holding their Ymei Iyun in Tanach the following week, so that educators have the option of combining both programs for two weeks of professional development.
Pardes Novice Teachers’ Program
Suitable for grade 4 – 12 Judaic studies teachers who have been teaching 1 – 5 years. This program runs from July 15 - 29. More information is available at http://www.pardes.org.il/programs/summer/curriculum/
Lookstein Centre Principals’ Program

CAJE Conference on Alternatives in Jewish Education
CAJE 33 (Conference on Alternatives in Jewish Education) is being held August 10 – 14 at the University of Vermont in Burlington.
It is expected that 1300 Jewish educators will have the opportunity to choose from several streams:
- Jewish Congregational Education: Evolution AND Revolution
- The Early Childhood Conference @ CAJE 33
- Eco-Judaism
- Educational Technology: Jewish Learning in a Digital World
- Israel @ 60

We are pleased to announce that the Mercaz will offer participants a stipend of $500.00 towards CAJE 33. Please submit a request letter to Chari Schwartz at cschwartz@ujafed.org or faxed to 416-633-7535. Once your request is approved, you will need to provide proof of attendance to receive the reimbursement.
JTS Ivriyon
This program, run by the Jewish Theological Seminary, will provide a Hebrew-immersion program for fifteen qualified day school teachers. Ivriyon trains teachers to teach Judaic studies in Hebrew. The program will be held from June 30 to July 25. See http://www.jtsa.edu/x7557.xml.
